Support Group for Spouses
“Journey” Spouses of Sexual Strugglers Support Women married to men struggling with sexual addiction experience overwhelming pain and loss. As men began finding healing and restoration through our “Walking Free” support group, their wives began to cry out for help as well. “Journey” was born out of the need to bring healing and hope to wives of sex addicts. The group began meeting in January of 2002 and ministers weekly to a growing number of women.
“Journey” exists to provide a safe, caring environment in which women can feel totally free to share their hurts and to grieve. In the large group setting, women discuss the different dynamics associated with addiction-grief, shame, fear, co-dependence, boundaries. Wives are then given opportunity to share personal hurts and struggles and to receive support from others in the context of a small group. Emphasis is placed on being completely honest with self, God, and others and on developing healthy, interdependent relationships with both spouses and other women.
