Sonny was brought up in a religious environment, learning early on the truth that Jesus died for sin on the cross.  Even so, when he was saved at the age of 16, he can remember wondering where Jesus fit into the scheme of things. One day, he opened his bible to a verse from John chapter 5 showing that in order to honor the Father, one must honor the Son as well. This was quite a revelation. He thought that he didn’t have a testimony equal to that of others who had come out of drugs and alcohol to be gloriously saved. Sonny’s story paled in comparison. The world presented a beautifully wrapped box, which he opened one day. Looking inside, he was able to gaze at what he had been looking for. The legalism of all the do’s and don’ts associated with being a Christian were gone, and he was FREE to do as he pleased. “Strange how freedom can turn into bondage.” So after many years of pure insanity and realizing the end of the road was near, Sonny decided it was time to get back to Jesus and find out what he had been missing all these years. He entered the TREK residential recovery program on the fifth of August, 2005 and has been clean and sober since.  “Now I praise God for the opportunity to give back to others passing the healing along.
